La Roche Posay Effalcar Duo [+]

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Plus [+] + blog review girl culture rosy cherrington french pharmany skincare

La Roche Posay's skincare saviour must have gained column inches in pretty much every newspaper, magazine and blog this year. Either it's the work of a persistent PR, or Effaclar Duo [+] is really worth its salt. Since finally reaching the end of my first bottle last week, I can safely say all signs point to the latter! For oily or blemish-prone skin, this little white tube is a genuine godsend. Its key ingredients - soothing niacinamide and gently exfoliating LHA and salicylic acid - work fast to refine and calm inflamed skin whilst unplugging pores.

The French pharmacy brand's bestselling original Duo formula has now been given an extra [+] with the addition of Procerad. This patented ceramide works to rebuild the skins surface and both helps to prevent and repair the dreaded red marks that linger long after spots have left the building. As my skin is prone to post-spot hyperpigmentation, which can become permanent if left untreated, it's a staple item in my skincare repertoire and one I can see myself using for years to come.

Effaclar Duo [+] has a long-lasting matte finish that's great for controlling shine. I've seen reports claiming it can leave dry or combination skin a bit quenched for thirst, but this can be easily remedied by following with a non-comedogenic moisturiser on top. Although the cream claims to be a great bakeup base, I'm not sure I completely agree as I find it tends to 'roll' slightly when rubbed. But when I'm having trouble with my skin, I just apply once at nighttime, rather than in the mornings too, and still find it as effective.
