Fountain: The Happy Molecule

Fountain The Happy Molecule Blog Review Girl Culture

Having waxed lyrical about Fountain's Beauty Molecule and Hyaluronic Molecule, I was beyond delighted with the opportunity to test out one of their new releases - The Happy Molecule. A beauty and lifestyle supplement, The Happy molecule contains a mood elevating GABA curcumin complex, along with Fountain's signature skin moisture boosting hyaluronic acid matrix, to keep you looking and feeling great.

Down to the science part! GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a neurotransmitter found in the human brain and a deficit in this essential acid has been linked to anxiety and depression. Curcumin is a compound of the South Asian spice tumeric, which has been used in medicine for thousands of years thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. More recently, research into the use of curcumin in treating depression has been carried out and it was discovered that curcumin can improve nerve growth in the brain - one study even found it as effective as the popular antidepressant Prozac.

The instructions state to take two teaspoons as needed to counteract the effects of chronic or short term stress, but I opted to dose up daily to really put it to the test. I must admit, I was slightly skeptical as to how a little yellow spoonful of tingly pineapple tasting gel could keep me smiling, but it turns out the folks at Fountain really know their stuff. Since taking The Happy Molecule, I've been feeling pretty great (although I did initially attribute this to the wonderful weather we've been having recently). It wasn't until I forgot to take it for a few days running, and wondered why I wasn't feeling quite as cheery, that I realised it really does work!

While I wouldn't say The Happy Molecule is an outright cure for any serious depression, it's certainly an effective tool in lifting the mood and one I would definitely recommend to anyone who finds themselves feeling grey some days for no real reason - a dose of this should definitely help you on the way to feeling less stressed.

Has anyone else tried The Happy Molecule? What are your best stress remedies?
