Turning Twenty-Five

Last Wednesday I turned 25, and this weekend I took the opportunity to throw a very pink and very Hello Kitty themed celebration. I considered attempting to write something touchingly poignant about how it feels to reach a quarter of a century, but it seemed rather redundant considering I spent my evening drinking frozen cocktails out of plastic cups in a very similiar manner to my 10 previous birthdays (albeit with better straws).

In all seriousness, so much has changed this year. It's been a long time coming. While I enjoyed parts of studying for my degree, it often left me feeling slightly stagnant and stuck in the same routine while everyone around me seemed to be off growing and succeeding in their chosen paths. Now I've graduated from university, qualified with the NCTJ as a journalist, and scooped up some amazing work experience that led to my first paid position at The Telegraph, which I started today.

I finally feel like I'm on my path, and it feels good. All the better for having such kind and thoughtful well-wishes from family and friends. They're the icing on the cake of this year's achievements, and they're not too bad at present buying either...
