Earlier this year I had the pleasure of visiting Sketch in London's Conduit Street to sample their champagne afternoon tea as part of a Valentine's piece I wrote for the Telegraph, but I thought I'd feature it on here too as I had such a fantastic time. The afternoon tea was held in their restaurant the Gallery, which is completely redecorated by a new artist every two years. The current powder pink paradise was designed by David Shrigley, who will occupy the space until 2016 - so get in while you can!

I feel my photos really don't do the interiors justice (seriously, Google it), they truly are a sight to behold - plush velvet upholstery, Missoni inspired tiling, shimmering rose-gold accenting and the most beautiful bar I've ever seen. David Shrigley's hilarious and satirical cartoon-like sketches adorn the walls, while his dreamy ceramic tableware made the culinary delights of the afternoon tea that touch more satisfying.

The food itself consisted of a range of delectable finger sandwiches, expertly-crafted pastries and, of course, scones with clotted cream and both fig and strawberry jam. I chose to pair my meal with the delicate and delicious vanilla tea infusion, which perfectly complimented my favourite part of the sweet selection - Sketch's signature pâte à choux filled with praline mousseline, coffee and hazelnut caramel.

Of course, we couldn't leave without documenting their incredible futuristic egg-shaped toilets (they have to be seen to be believed). Alongside the Gallery, Sketch also boasts three bars and two more eateries inside to choose from so you're spoiled for choice - a definite must-visit in central London.
