Bioderma vs Garnier: The Best Micellar Water

Up on the blog today is the battle of the micellar waters - Bioderma and Garnier to be exact. Ever since the secret got out about the awesomeness of Sensibio H20, it seems every skincare brand on the market released their own version. Garnier's offering is one of the most popular alternatives out there, but how does it compare to the original? I put it to the test to find out...

I'll start with the classic from Bioderma. I've been using this one for a few years now and it must be one of my most repurchased beauty buys! This nifty cleanser works by using micelles - which micro-emulsify impurities while maintaining the skin’s balance. Its added decongesting ingredients help prevent irritation, making the skin feel instantly refreshed, perfectly clean and free from all makeup – including water resistant mascara.

I know some people say that it doesn't remove eye makeup as easily as oil-based cleansers, but I've never found it problematic. If you're finding it slightly tougher, simply hold the pad down against your eyes for a few seconds and then wait for the makeup to melt before you wipe away - no rubbing required! Ahh I love this stuff. It's just so cooling and soothing - plus it's alcohol free, soap free, fragrance free and pH balanced.

As Bioderma is one of the only cleansers I can use on my eyes without them stinging in the slightest ( I have very sensitive skin), I was slightly apprehensive about the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. Luckily, it's just as effective and didn't irritate my eyes in the slightest - which is really saying something! The ingredients are very similar to Bioderma, although Garnier doesn't have the cucumber extract which I think makes it feel slightly less refreshing... although I may be imagining that.

The one major upside to Garnier is the price - you get loads more for a fraction of the cost. If you're after skincare on a budget, I cannot recommend it enough. But if, like me, you seriously can't give up your Bioderma addiction - pretty much every stockist does special offers from time to time so  the trick is to bulk buy when the prices are lower (Escentual linked above have a great deal on right now)!

What's your favourite micellar water?
