Changing The Name Of My Blog

Goodbye Girl Culture!

This weekend I decided to give this blog a mini makeover. I set up the site as girlculture.co.uk last February - which means I've almost been blogging for two years now, how time has flown! - but decided it was time for a rebrand.

This was for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I (stupidly) didn't do my research that well and Girl Culture also turned out to be the name of quite a popular photography book, meaning it was really hard to get my site to come up in Google searches. Secondly, all my social media channels are in my name - so it just made sense to change the blog to rosycherrington.com.

All in all, it was a pretty simple process. I just changed the name of the site on Blogspot, then switched up its URL. I know that changing the name of your blog can negatively impact the SEO of current posts, but I think it's going to pay off in the long term. I'm already seeing a noticeable increase in page views, especially from Google, so I know I made the right choice!

My illustrator and tattoo artist pal Emily Alice Johnston made the new artwork for me (she also drew the original Girl Culture drawing too), and I'm so happy with it. She's a very talented lady so be sure to check out her work on Instagram.

Finally, a big thanks to you all for continuing to visit the blog and bearing with me through my brief hiatus - I hope you enjoy the new and improved version!
